No cases of bird flu have been detected in Greece so far, following sample tests on migratory birds. As declared by the Director of Institute for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (ILPAN) in Thessaloniki, Antonis Stefanou, the results from the samples of the birds that were found dead in the Evros Delta and were sent to be tested are negative. Meanwhile, the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council will convene tomorrow to decide on the necessary measures for combating the disease. In Greece, by ministerial decision, which will be effective until June, the anti-flu vaccine can only be obtained though chemists with a prescription. In the meantime, Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche dispensed the anti-viral drug Tamiflu free of charge to Turkey and Romania, where the H5N1 bird flu virus has been detected.
Kann ich gut verstehen - nach der Panik, die in den griechischen Medien geschuert wurde, haben offenbar gerade aufgeregte Eltern die Apotheken gestuermt und die Apotheker bedraengt die Kinder zu impfen, jetzt, hier und sofort (in GR duerfen Apotheker dies genauso wie Diagnosen stellen). Muss ziemlich hoch hergegangen sein in den letzten Tagen.
Nun werden die Apotheker wohl wieder vernueftig arbeiten koennen und die Aufregung verlagert sich in die Arztpraxen - bzw. an die IKA-Telefone, um ueberhaupt erstmal einen Arzttermin zugewiesen zu bekommen. Im Juni. Oder so.
Ich sach doch - manchmal hat die griechische Spezialvariante der postsozialistischen Planwirtschaft auch ihre guten Seiten
